William “Bill” Anthony Hession, age 65, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, May 29, 2026, at home in Brookfield.
Born in Evergreen Park, IL, on June 13, 1960, Bill was the beloved eldest son of the late Joan (née Cliff) and late William Hession. Bill was the cherished husband of Nancy LaBreacht, his partner and best friend for nearly 40 years. Together they built a beautiful life in Brookfield, where they raised their family – his greatest joy. He was a devoted father to Liam, Lucas, and Miles. He celebrated their accomplishments, encouraged their dreams, and treasured every moment spent together. That included travel all around the US, through Europe, and most especially their last family trip, to Japan.
Bill worked for 40 years at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where he was known amongst his colleagues as a knowledgeable, hardworking mentor.
An alumni of Northern Illinois University, he remained a student his whole life and was a walking encyclopedia – able to share interests ranging from Joe Strummer to Marcus Aurelius, with a particular proclivity for the works of Oscar Wilde.
He was the dear brother of Nancy (Mark) Swanson, Katie Hession, and Daniel (Ann-Marie) Hession. He was a thoughtful son-in-law to the late George and Dorothy LaBreacht, and a beloved brother-in-law to Pam King (the late Mike King) and the late Cindy LaBreacht. And he was the fun-loving uncle of many: Anders (Teresa) Swanson, Patrick Swanson, Ellen Swanson, Michael O’Malley, Charlotte Hession, Stella Hession, Michael (Christina) King, Brian (Erin) King, Megan (Fabi) Rodezno, Chris (Maddie) Davidson, and Emily (Varun) Davidson.
Fond nephew, cousin and friend to many.
To all those who knew him, they understood the care and interest he held for his loved ones. Their successes were his own, as were their tragedies. He carried all of us with him. His loss will be felt immensely.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to WaterStep would be appreciated.
