Stanley C. Sobyra

June 22, 1957 — August 25, 2025

Brookfield

Stanley C. Sobyra, 68, of Brookfield, IL, passed away peacefully on August 25th, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Stanley was the son of Valentine Allison (Capek) and Stanley A. Sobyra. He grew up with two siblings, Deborah and George Sobyra, and from an early age carried with him a strong work ethic and a gift for making people laugh.

Since 1979, he and his wife, Dalia Sobyra (Ondrick), shared a strong and loving marriage, building an amazing and never-dull life together. Over the decades, they faced every challenge and celebrated every joy side by side. Thanks to his wife’s support, he was able to be a true jack of all trades. Together, they raised three children; Stanley Sobyra (Gena Sobyra), Dalia Merrill (Willie Merrill), and Alexander Sobyra (Megan Fukar) and were blessed with eight grandchildren: Hayden, Wyatt, Willow, Adrian, Woodson, Alianna, Ryker, and Mira, who brought him endless joy. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Deborah, and his first grandson, Wyatt.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Stanley dedicated much of his life to his work. Away from the show floor, he found joy on the golf course or in the company of his family—especially his grandchildren, who were his greatest pride. He was endlessly proud of each of them and never missed a chance to share their pictures with anyone who would look.

Stanley will be remembered for humor, generosity, and deep love for his family. Known as the life of the party, Stanley had a way of filling any room with laughter. His quick one-liners, warm heart, and willingness to help anyone who asked made him unforgettable to all who knew him. Stanley never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

His legacy lives on in the laughter and memories he created with all who knew him, so many, in fact, that if everyone shared their stories, we could fill a book with the joy he brought into our lives.

Stanley loved his bright, patterned polos…he always said the louder the color, the better!

Please honor his spirit by wearing your brightest colors to his celebration.
