Jose Prudencio Avila, USMC Corporal Vietnam Veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star and saved 11 of his fellow soldiers in “Dodge City” Vietnam and retired 33 year BNSF Mechanic, age 73 of Harlingen, TX formerly of Chicago (Pilsen), IL. Beloved son of Timotea and the late Donaciano Avila, loving father of David (Malisa) Avila, Olivia (Concepcion) Villegas, Diana Avila and Samuel (Ivette) Avila, cherished grandfather of Cynthia, Isabel Villegas, Andrez Villegas, Malachi Avila, Alondra Avila, Talia Avila, Annalise Avila and great-grandfather of Estella Espinosa, dear brother of Maria (Alonso) Ramirez, Gilbert (Maria) Avila, Martha (Miguel) Corral, Rosemary (Ramon) Vargas, Daniel Avila, Donaciano (Lila) Avila, Jaime Avila and the late Felipe Avila, fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Due to current health regulations, a maximum of 10 people are allowed in the funeral home at any one time, masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home. We kindly ask that you exit the funeral home after paying your respects to the family so that all visitors have an opportunity to enter. Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.
