Elizabeth “Liz” Giacomelli nee Skelly, age 59 of Brookfield, formerly of Clonmellon Navan Co Meath, Ireland. Beloved wife of Bob Giacomelli, loving dog mom of Lilly, Bill and the late Molly, dear sister of Gerard (Monica), Myriam (Charles), Brendan (Jackie), Padraig and Karen (Urban), sister in law of David (Melissa) Giacomelli and Barbara (late Tony), cherished aunt of Stephen, Peter, Louise, Lisa, Michael, Aaron, Robert, Meghann, Killian, Tyler Giacomelli, Ryan (Bree) Giacomelli, Tim (Kari) Giacomelli and Becky (Lalo) Solis. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Kitty Skelly and her brothers Tony and Martin and she will be missed by her extended family and friends in Ireland and the United States.
Liz was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend whose life was defined by love, generosity and compassion. She was born in County Meath, Ireland, where her early life was shaped by strong family ties, tradition and a deep sense of home.
After completing her Learning Certificate, Liz attended Thompson College in 1985, a move that brought her to line in Dublin. She went on to build a dedicated professional life, working at Lombard Bank and later at Ulster Bank. In 1993, Liz emigrated to the United States, embracing a new chapter while always keeping Ireland close to her heart.
While living in the United States, Liz worked at Kenny's Tavern, where her warmth, humor and welcoming nature made her well known and deeply appreciated. She later worked at Fort Dearborn Life. It was during her time at Kenny's that she met Bob, who would become her husband and lifelong partner.
Liz had a rare gift for making people truly feel seen and valued. As a wife, she was loving supportive and deeply devoted. As a sister and sister in law, she was caring, loyal and dependable. As an aunt, she brought laughter, kindness and loving into the lives of her nieces and nephews, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She was a treasured friend whose friendships spanned countries and generations. Liz's kindness, sincerity and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Those who knew Liz will remember her gentle spirit, quiet strength and unwavering compassion. She lived with grace and humility, always putting others before herself. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
